Electrical Equipment

The electric output of the electronic regulator of Wind Turbine is 24, 48 or 96 VDC (volts of direct current). This voltage can be used for heating of buildings, pump motors supply, lighting, etc.

Usually Wind Turbine is used by ordinary people which use 220/110 VAC (volts of alternating current), 50/60 Hz. The appropriate inverter is needed to get these parameters.

Wind Turbine can operate with the following devices and modules:

•    Inverter 24 VDC – 220/110 VAC, 50/60 Hz, which converts the voltage of direct current to the voltage of alternating current,

•    Batteries for uninterrupted power supply when there is no wind,

•    Diesel or gasoline generator for increase of peak power supply or uninterrupted power supply when there is no wind,

The basic system includes Wind Turbine, inverter, batteries, diesel or gasoline generator.

The system can use double transformation of voltage incoming from the grid or diesel (VAC-VDC-VAC) for uninterrupted power supply. In this case the consumer doesn’t feel any change of voltage when switching from one power source to the other (for instance, from Wind Turbine to diesel generator). However in this case the losses of power incoming from the grid or diesel generator are unavoidable.

Another system can use by-pass connection for uninterrupted power supply. In this case the consumer may feel small voltage drop when switching from one power source to the other (for instance, from Wind Turbine to diesel generator), exactly how it is made in computer UPS.

Inverter

Inverter converts (transforms) 24, 48 or 96 VDC into 220/110 VAC 50/60 Hz. This device is available in our company as well as on the market.

Batteries

When electric energy is produced, it has to be consumed immediately. I.e. if Wind Turbine generates energy without immediate consumption, it should be stored. On the other hand, during short time peak consumption of electric energy there should be some storage to take this energy from. In another words the consumer needs some “reservoir” which stores the excess energy incoming from Wind Turbine during the windy weather, and give it back during peak consumption or when there is no wind. The sample of such “reservoir” is ordinary 12 V automobile accumulating battery which should be used, kept and serviced with all necessary precautions. It’s also possible to use different traction batteries or other exotic devices. However practice shows that ordinary battery is less expensive and the operation quality is the same as of expensive devices.

Diesel (gas) generators

There are lots of generators giving out 220/110 VAC, 50/60 Hz of different power. For specific energy supply it’s necessary to analyze if the extra source of power is needed. If it is required, then it’s time to calculate what power consumption should be covered. Also the consumer should choose what type of generator should be purchased (diesel, which is expensive but has inexpensive servicing, or gasoline or gas which is cheaper but expensive during its whole life).
